To my Ate Inday, how I wish you can see my blog...I would like to reach out my heartful gratitude not just for your recent padala but also for the loyalty and long years of service you have extended to my family. Recipe: Steamed Lapu Lapu in Ginger Sauce

This Steamed Lapu Lapu in Ginger Sauce is very much the same style of cooking like that of my Steamed Dory recipe. I just added a few colors by adding hard boiled egg and boiled potatoes to serve as a side dish. Unlike the Dory recipe though, I lessen the amount of each ingredients for its sauce since I find it a little bit overwhelming.

Steamed Lapu Lapu in Ginger Sauce

Again you can check out the recipe here. All you need is to substitute the dory with the lapu lapu. No need to cut the lapu lapu in really small slices. Steaming a fish is the best way to eat it healthy and by simply adding salt, pepper, ginger and your preferred herb, one can have a delicious healthy meal.

An All Veggies Night: Chopseuy

Chopseuy
Truth to be told, I'm not much fan of any veggies, most specially leafy vegetables. Much to my surprise, I do enjoyed this Chopseuy our ever dependable Jing cooked for us the other night. She had indeed captured our tastebuds without forcing us to eat our veggies, lol!

Recipe: Pork Pasta in White Sauce

This recipe was inspired from another pasta recipe called Roast Beef Pasta and was as usual prepared according to what we have in the kitchen. With a little of bit substitution happening on this newborn recipe, I am glad I'm learning a lot from my kitchen experiences. Here goes my version of Pork Pasta in White Sauce which I find a cheaper alternative to the usual Spaghetti.

Ingredients:
440g spaghetti pasta
1/4k ground pork
salt and pepper
1/4 cup magnolia gold butter (unsalted)
1/4 cup all purpose flour
1 pc. red bell pepper, diced
2 cup pork broth
1 tsp liquid seasoning
cayenne pepper (optional)
1/2 cup grated cheese

Procedure:
1. Cook pasta according to package direction and set aside.
2. Season the ground pork with salt and pepper and pan fry. Set aside.
3. In a saucepan, melt butter and then whisk in the flour making sure no lumps are formed.
4. Add in the bell pepper and cook for a minute.
5. Gradually add the pork broth then simmer until slightly thickened.
6. Add in the cooked pork together with its juices and liquid seasoning. Let simmer for 5 minutes over low heat. Adjust seasoning according to taste.

Pour over pork mixture over pasta. Serve hot topped with grated cheese and parsley.

Snack of the Week: Cinema Pop by Chef Tony's

I could still fairly remember about around 2006 when I would pass by SM Makati into a bunch of popcorn products neatly sealed in round transparent plastic containers (very much unusual from the regular popcorns in paper bags). It was definitely eye catching as you could clearly see those golden caramel popcorns inside. Fast forward 5 years later, they're now the leading popcorn brand in the Philippines. Recently I got to taste their yet another best selling flavors - Chef Tony's Cinema Pop in Canadian Bacon and Cheddar.

So what's Chef Tony's secret recipe? According to their website, they boast their products with "No trans fats, no preservatives, non GMO corn and oils, no artificial whatchamacallits."

Inasal Joe's Batchoy

I have always been a certified La Paz Batchoy fan ever since I tasted that of Ilonggo Grill. Probably because both parents are Ilonggo's that my palate just quickly fell in love with the dish. I could finish the biggest bowl in one sitting and have tried a lot of other versions from different restaurants. So when my aunt who came to visit from Mindanao wanted to eat batchoy, I quickly ordered one from Inasal Joe (the closest food stall in Shangri-la that serves batchoy). This will be our first try eating at Inasal Joe and their batchoy.
Inasal Joe's Batchoy
Quite frankly it wasn't as satisfying as I would have hoped it to be. Too little stuffing and a little too salty. I hope it's not like that in all f their branches. But so far, Ilonggo Grill's Batchoy tops my list.

A Country-styled Lunch at Holy Cow

The place reminded me of a restaurant I frequented come lunch time when I still a student in La Salle. Also a country themed diner with all sorts of intertesting wall hangings, Holy Cow Steak Ranch and American Grill located in SM Megamall can be spotted a few feet from the newly opened shop of Paris Hilton selling her signature bag collection. Below are photos of our set meals :)

Sansribav from Dunkin Donuts

A few weeks ago, my aunt tagged me along for her business and friendly meetings in Manila. Later that night, she was yearning for Dunkin Donuts hot choco, something she says brings back old memories of her working life in Manila. Honestly, it has been quite a long time since I've dined in a Dunkin Donuts store so I was kind of surprised to see a sansrival-like donut.
Dunkin Donuts Sansribav
I love sansrival and so I ordered what they call Sansribav. The first few bites were heaven but partnered with their hot choco, it felt like I'm having a sugar overdosed.  I found it too sweet that I wasn't able to finish that one big Donut. It's much like a Bavarian topped with this sweet icing. I tried the other donuts, the chocolate flavor and I liked it more. It's nice that we left with a free Twilight Eclipse Tote Bag :)

Recipe: Arroz Caldo

Another all time favorite Pinoy food is Arroz Caldo. Wanting to serve this dish to my younger sister who at that time couldn't eat well because of an aching tooth, I surfed for yet another easy recipe on how to make Chicken Arroz Caldo. Here goes my recipe:

Chicken Arroz Caldo

Ingredient:
1 cup uncooked malagkit rice
1 k chicken in small assorted cuts
ginger strips
6 cups of chicken broth (you can use Knorr chicken broth cubes)
2 tbsp patis
1 medium sized onion, chopped
4 cloves of garlic, chopped
fried garlic, minced (to garnish)
1 tbsp scallions (to garnish)
cooking oil

Procedure:
1. Saute garlic, onion and ginger in oil.
2. Add chicken and fish sauce and stir fry until light browned.
3. Add malagkit rice and chicken broth. Simmer in low fire and stir occasionally until both rice and chicken is cooked.
4. Serve hot and garnish with fried garlic and scallions.

Recipe: Crunchy Chicken Balls

Crunchy Chicken Balls
This Crunchy Chicken Ball recipe is almost the same as my healthy version of Chicken Nuggets. To add some fun to this dish and make it more moist on the inside, I used ground chicken instead of chicken breast and japanese bread crumbs instead of flour to add that crunch. I also added a variety of McCormick herbs and spices into the mixture.
