Recipe: Oat Crusted Fish Fillet

Oat Crusted Fish Fillet with gravy
My original plan for dinner was to cook my usual pan fried fish fillet, but when I realized that I don't have enough japanese bread crumbs I thought, well, it's time to experiment again. So I checked on our pantry and found a pack of Australia Harvest Oat Bran. Then I thought, "This should work, even a healthier alternative with our usual take on breading fish."

Oat Crusted Fish Fillet recipe:

Ingredients:

2 Fish Fillets (you can use cream dory, tilapia or labahita)
salt and pepper
2 eggs, beaten
all purpose flour
oats

Procedure:
1. Season fillets with salt and pepper (Tip: you can put the fillets on dry clean sheets of towel to remove excess water. Doing so will let the flour easily stick to the fillets)
2. Coat with all purpose flour
3. Dip into beaten eggs
3. Coat both sides of fish fillet evenly into oats
3. Heat non stick skillet over medium to high heat and cook 3 minutes per side (depending on the thickness of the fish)

1 comment:

  1. Did you use oats or oat bran? I would think that rolled oats wouldn't stick to the fish.
