Adobong Hito

Adobo is a popular dish and and at the same time a cooking process in Philippine cuisine that involves meat or seafood marinated in a sauce of vinegar and garlic, browned in oil, and simmered in the marinade. This version however presents that fish like Pantat or Hito (Catfish in english) can also be cooked Adobo inspired.

  1. I don't even think I've ever tried eating catfish before. Is it a bony type of fish?
    But when I saw this post, I showed it to a friend and he said it's his favorite. I wish I can try it someday... =)

  2. We cooked adobo (meat or chicken) but haven't tried hito we might try this one.

  3. @ moirai: A lot of my friends have never eaten a catfish before. I was actually surprised when they said, they’ve never heard of the word hito or pantat. When for me, that’s my favorite kind of fish. I find it tastier than bangus or tilapia. Try it!

  4. @ Mona: Chicken and Pork Adobo is well known already but amazingly, this type of cooking is very much flexible. Adobo can work wonders to any kind of dish (even Adobong Kambing!) I find it almost perfect for any kind of food – meat, seafood or fish.
