Recipe: McCormick Pesto Sauce

Making a pesto sauce today is more convenient with a little help from McCormick. Instead of doing the classic preparation of using fresh basil leaves where you'll be needing a food processor, using McCormick Dried Basil Leaves is as easy and fast as combining these ingredients together: finely chopped garlic, McCormick's dried basil, black pepper, salt, olive oil, finely chopped pine nuts and grated cheese.

Put these sauce mixture into a clean empty bottle and the mixture should last for at least a month (if without the cheese). You can just add the cheese after mixing the sauce with the pasta. Doing this helps save you more time when you're in for an afternoon crave of pesto. Just cook some pasta and toss in your ready made pesto sauce!

You can also add this dried basil when making your adobo - check out my version, Chicken and Pork Adobo with Basil

Aside from Dried Basil, McCormick also has the Pesto Pasta Sauce Mix. I used this the time I cooked my Nut Pesto with Chicken.

  2. hi lee. well, they're just actually estimates. You can probably try this measurement: for a cup of dried basil, use 3 cloves of chopped garlic, half a cup of olive oil, half a cup of parmesan cheese, dash of salt and pepper, 3 tablespoon of nuts. But really, it depends on how you want it to taste. I love adding lots of cheese on my plate! :) Hope this helps

  3. thanks sooo much for this! i have this all available right now! Sounds more reasonable (and practical) than buying a food processor/blender and lots of fresh basil. May I ask, how much mccormick basil did you use? how many servings is it good for?
